Learn More About Los Angeles Concerts Next Weekend
Los Angeles is the biggest city on the west coast. You get what you’d expect from the home of Hollywood: top-notch entertainment throughout the year. LA has dozens of great concert venues and is one of the best places in the country for live music of any genre, and many artists from Van Halen to N.W.A. to Katy Perry got their starts here.
One of LA’s premier entertainment complexes is Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center), perhaps best known as the home of the NHL’s Kings and the NBA’s Clippers and Lakers. Crypto.com Arena is the busiest arena in California and can also accommodate large crowds of fans for concerts. It opened in 1999 with shows on four separate days from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
The Hollywood Bowl bills itself as “the mecca for summer concerts in Southern California.” It’s hard to argue with that—you can see the famous Hollywood sign off in the distance, and this natural outdoor amphitheater is the largest venue of its kind in the US. The venue dates back to the 1920s, when crowds gathered on wooden benches. Throughout its long history, The Hollywood Bowl has hosted some of the most famous performers in music: The Beatles, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Elton John, Genesis, and The Beach Boys. In more recent years, Dolly Parton, Pentatonix, Mariah Carey, and Chance the Rapper played at the Bowl. The Bowl was also the site of Tom Petty’s last concert before his death in October 2017.
The Fonda Theatre was named the city’s best live music venue by LA Weekly. Named for Henry Fonda, the venue opened in 1926 and was restored in 2002. It fits 1200 people, and it’s relatively easy to get close to the stage. You can even have a drink at their rooftop bar. Artists like Radiohead and the Rolling Stones have played at the Fonda in the past.
