About Arlington Concerts
Though it is not even the largest city in Texas, Arlington is home to some of the biggest live events in the U.S. When the Dallas Cowboys’ new arena opened in Arlington in 2009, the city immediately became a destination for many of the biggest concert tours. Arlington is a relatively short drive from Dallas and the other major cities of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, and the city has venues for both indoor and outdoor concerts.
AT&T Stadium — home to the Dallas Cowboys — can host concerts that fit anywhere from 35,000 to 100,000 people. Naturally, such a big venue attracts some of the world’s top acts, and the talent spans across many genres and eras. Some of the biggest names in pop, like Beyonce, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift have played at the arena multiple times. If you like rock and metal, Arlington also attracts artists like Metallica, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2. If you’re into country, you can count on big-time performers like Luke Bryan and Kenny Chesney making a stop at AT&T Stadium.
If huge crowds aren’t your thing, you also can find more modest-sized venues for concerts in Arlington. The Arlington Music Hall, for example, is a repurposed 1950s movie theater. Country star LeAnn Rimes got her start as a child on the Arlington Music Hall’s stage, and stars like Blake Shelton have played there as well. The Arlington Music Hall is also known for its tribute shows where performers cover the biggest hits from legendary rock and pop artists.
Texas Hall, on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, also hosts more intimate concerts in its 2,615 seat auditorium. But its smaller size doesn’t keep major artists from performing there: the legendary Louis Armstrong played the venue’s first show in 1965, and Texas Hall has also hosted performances from artists like KISS, Rihanna and the Supremes. Local groups like the Fort Worth Symphony and Fort Worth Opera also perform at Texas Hall.
The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts hosts numerous concerts during most of the summer and into the fall. The Pavilion is an outdoor venue that fits up to 12,000 people and is one of the area’s more affordable options for live music. The artists who play at the Pavilion perform original music, and they often represent the best of the local music scene. And you can bring your whole family to a show at the Levitt Pavilion — every concert is billed as family friendly and appropriate for all ages. In addition to its normal events, the Levitt Pavilion hosts an annual benefit concert that attracts more widely known artists, including the Barenaked Ladies and the B-52s. These events are always a hot ticket.
