About Queensryche Tickets
Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band that formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington. The original lineup included vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarists Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield. The band emerged from the local rock scene, evolving from a cover band called The Mob into a group with a unique sound blending heavy metal with progressive and conceptual elements. Their self-titled debut EP, released independently in 1983, quickly gained traction and led to a major label deal with EMI.
Queensrÿche achieved critical and commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their 1988 concept album Operation: Mindcrime is considered a landmark in progressive metal, praised for its storytelling, musicianship and social commentary. It was followed by Empire (1990), their most commercially successful album, featuring the hit single “Silent Lucidity,” which earned a Grammy nomination and significant airplay on MTV and rock radio. The album sold over three million copies and solidified their status as a major force in the genre.
Despite lineup changes in the 2000s, including the departure of founding vocalist Geoff Tate, Queensrÿche has continued to record and tour with renewed energy. Todd La Torre took over vocals in 2012, bringing a fresh dynamic to the band while honoring its legacy. Albums like Condition Hüman (2015) and Digital Noise Alliance (2022) have been well received by fans and critics alike, showcasing their continued evolution while staying true to their progressive roots. Queensrÿche remains an influential and respected name in metal, known for blending intricate arrangements with thought-provoking themes.
