Soon You’ll Get Dropped off Closer To Your Seat While Saving in Walking Time
NEW YORK, NY (August 22, 2018) -- Ever arrived at a sporting event or concert on time, only to miss the first half because you couldn’t find the entrance to get to your seat? Or perhaps you left a live event early to save time getting home only to walk outside and realize you need to go around the entire stadium to get to your ride? You aren’t alone, and that’s why this fall SeatGeek and Lyft are teaming up to make it easier than ever before for fans to use Lyft to attend live events.
Soon fans attending games, concerts and other events will be dropped off closer to their seats than ever before, saving up to 30 minutes in walking time at large stadium venues. Fans who request a Lyft ride through the SeatGeek app will automatically have their seat location featured in the Lyft app, ensuring the driver drops them off as close to their seat as possible.
“Our partnership with Lyft is a perfect example of what openness can do for fans, and what has been lacking in this industry,” said SeatGeek Co-Founder Russ D’Souza. “This is innovation that will noticeably improve the fan experience, as we look for more ways to make it easier to access and enjoy live events.”
This partnership is the first step in SeatGeek’s focus on improving the day of event experience from driveway to driveway. As part of this partnership fans attending events at most of the biggest venues in the country will have new custom maps that help ensure they are dropped off as close to their seat as possible, no matter what concert or game they are attending. Lyft riders can also receive exclusive discounts on their Lyft rides when booking via the SeatGeek app.
“Many music and sports fans are already taking a Lyft to watch their favorite entertainer play and their favorite athlete score the game winning goal, “ said Lyft’s Amy Fox, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. “Lyft teaming up with SeatGeek will make those fans' game-day experiences even better.”
Next season, fans visiting Providence Park, home to the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer, will be able to experience Lyft within the SeatGeek app. Timbers fans attending games via the SeatGeek app will automatically be dropped off at the best gate for their seats when taking a Lyft, saving them crucial time getting around the stadium.
"This a terrific collaboration between two of our valued partners, SeatGeek and Lyft, and we are very excited about this program as it will even further enhance an already fantastic gameday experience at Providence Park,” said Mike Golub, president of business for the Timbers and Portland Thorns FC.
