He grew up in Rumson, New Jersey, and studied jazz piano before attending Berklee College of Music. Puth first gained widespread attention in the early 2010s through viral YouTube videos that showcased his vocal range and production skills. His breakthrough came when he co-wrote, produced, and performed “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa for the Furious 7 soundtrack, a global hit that topped charts worldwide and introduced him as a major new voice in pop music.

Following that success, Puth released his debut album Nine Track Mind in 2016, which featured radio staples like “One Call Away” and “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” While the album brought commercial success, his career reached a new creative peak with his 2018 sophomore release Voicenotes.
