The 2026 Super Bowl, or Super Bowl LX, is set for Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026. Every year, it’s one of the biggest events in sports, turning the host city into a weeklong celebration of football, music, and entertainment.
Since the Super Bowl moves to a new city each year, here’s a look at where Super Bowl LX will be played and other key facts about this year’s location.
The 2026 Super Bowl will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
The 2026 Super Bowl was awarded to Levi’s Stadium in 2023 after receiving approval from NFL team owners during the league’s spring meetings. Super Bowl hosts always find out years in advance to allow ample time to plan and prepare for this massive event.
The NFL actually updated its Super Bowl host selection process back in 2018. The league starts by identifying cities that meet its hosting requirements. Then the league invites interested cities to submit a formal proposal outlining their plans, including stadium facilities, accommodations, and other logistics. Once reviewed, NFL team owners vote to approve or reject the city as the host, ensuring the chosen location can handle the scale and excitement of Super Bowl week.
This will be the second Super Bowl that Levi’s Stadium will host, along with the 2015 Super Bowl that saw the Denver Broncos defeat the Carolina Panthers. The Bay Area was also the Super Bowl host back in 1985 at Stanford Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers beat the Miami Dolphins.
Levi’s Stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 68,500 and features state-of-the-art amenities for fans, including high-definition video boards, premium seating options and numerous food options. Fans can enjoy a clear view from virtually any seat, as the stadium was designed with a focus on fan experience. Levi’s Stadium also hosts concerts, soccer matches (including for the 2026 FIFA World Cup) and other major events, making it a premier venue in California.
