The 2026 NBA Finals tip off tomorrow night in San Antonio, but one of the biggest stories heading into Knicks-Spurs is already happening off the court.
Ticket prices for the Knicks’ return to the Finals have reached a level SeatGeek has historically only seen for the Super Bowl. Madison Square Garden has always carried a premium, but the Knicks’ first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 is pushing demand into a different stratosphere.
NBA Finals Game 6 (if necessary) at MSG is currently averaging an average resale price of $7,478 per ticket on SeatGeek. That makes those tickets more sought after than every Super Bowl except for one in SeatGeek’s database, trailing only Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, which averaged $10,497.
The Knicks’ first two home games at Madison Square Garden are averaging $6,513 on SeatGeek, more than 3.4 times the previous NBA Finals home-market high. That previous mark was set by the 2024 Mavericks, whose first two home games against the Celtics averaged $1,917.
So given this demand has been unprecedented in the NBA, we’ve decided to compare 2026 NBA Finals games at MSG to every other sports event in SeatGeek’s database. Not surprisingly, recent Super Bowls make up the bulk of this list. But Games 3, 4 and 6 of the 2026 NBA Finals, all at MSG, have cracked the top of the leaderboard.
Event | Average Ticket Price |
Super Bowl LVIII, Chiefs vs. 49ers (Las Vegas) | $10,497 |
2026 NBA Finals Game 6 (if necessary) | $7,478 |
Super Bowl LVI, Rams vs. Bengals, (Los Angeles) | $7,386 |
Super Bowl LX, Patriots vs. Seahawks (Santa Clara) | $7,202 |
Super Bowl LVII, Eagles vs. Chiefs (Glendale) | $7,021 |
2026 NBA Finals Game 3 | $6,884 |
Super Bowl LIX, Eagles vs. Chiefs (New Orleans) | $6,881 |
2026 NBA Finals Game 4 | $5,965 |
Until now, the Super Bowl has been in a pricing category of its own. The Knicks’ return to the Finals is now showing that the right mix of market, venue and moment can put another sporting event in that same range.
The Knicks are driving the most in-demand NBA Finals market SeatGeek has ever tracked, along with the highest individual seat prices sold on SeatGeek this year.
The top per-ticket order of 2026 is a courtside pair for NBA Finals Game 3 at Madison Square Garden that sold for $62,680 per ticket. On a per-seat basis, that is higher than any Super Bowl LX, World Cup Final or College Football Playoff Championship order SeatGeek has processed this year.
NBA Finals games now account for eight of the 10 top per-ticket orders of 2026 on SeatGeek. Seven of those orders are at Madison Square Garden, including five from Game 3 and two from Game 4. The eighth is in San Antonio, where a pair of Game 7 seats at Frost Bank Center sold for $35,015 per ticket before the series even tipped off.
That Game 7 buyer, though, was from New York. In fact, the top five per-ticket orders for a potential Game 7 in San Antonio have all come from New York or New Jersey buyers. Knicks fans are not just willing to pony up at MSG, but also for a potential clincher more than 1,500 miles from New York.
The top five per-ticket orders of 2026 on SeatGeek are:
Rank | Event | Per-ticket price |
1 | NBA Finals Game 3 at MSG | $62,680 |
2 | NBA Finals Game 4 at MSG | $60,602 |
3 | NBA Finals Game 3 at MSG | $49,867 |
4 | NBA Finals Game 3 at MSG | $45,037 |
5 | World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium | $42,714 |
The highest-ranking Super Bowl order on a per-seat basis is currently sixth on SeatGeek’s 2026 list, a single Super Bowl LX seat purchased for $35,802. The top per-ticket NBA Finals purchase, two Game 3 seats at MSG bought for $62,680 apiece, is roughly 75% higher.
The Knicks are driving the headline numbers, but the demand is historic on both sides of the 2026 NBA Finals. The Spurs’ first two home games of the series (Games 1 and 2) at Frost Bank Center are averaging $2,446 on SeatGeek, which ranks as the second-highest NBA Finals home-market average SeatGeek has tracked.
The Knicks’ first two home games for the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden (Games 3 and 4) are averaging $6,513, while the previous record before this Finals was the 2024 Mavericks at $1,917.
Rank | Year and matchup | Venue | Average price of first two NBA Finals home games |
1 | 2026 Knicks vs. Spurs | Madison Square Garden | $6,513 |
2 | 2026 Spurs vs. Knicks | Frost Bank Center | $2,446 |
3 | 2024 Mavericks vs. Celtics | American Airlines Center | $1,917 |
Throughout the playoffs, New York and New Jersey buyers have shown up in meaningful numbers on the road, with the pattern intensifying as the stakes have risen.
The clearest example came in Philadelphia. During the Eastern Conference Semifinals, New York and New Jersey buyers accounted for 56.7% of all tickets sold on SeatGeek for Knicks road games against the Sixers. That share climbed as the series went on, from 49.3% for Game 3 to 62.7% for Game 4 and 67.9% for Game 6.
Cleveland was also a meaningful travel market for Knicks fans. For the Eastern Conference Finals, NY/NJ buyers accounted for 16.2% of tickets sold on SeatGeek across Knicks road games. That share rose from 12.9% for Game 3 to 19.5% for Game 4 with the Knicks in a series-clinching scenario.
The Finals are now extending that pattern to San Antonio. For Games 1 and 2, buyers from New York and New Jersey account for 14.5% of tickets sold on SeatGeek, despite San Antonio being a trip that requires most Knicks fans to fly.
That share climbs for the potential “if necessary” games in San Antonio. For Games 5 and 7, New York and New Jersey buyers make up about 20% of tickets sold, suggesting Knicks fans are already lining up in full force for possible clincher scenarios.
Madison Square Garden has always been one of the highest-demand venues in sports, but Knicks fans waiting 27 years for an NBA Finals appearance has turned an already passionate fanbase into one of the strongest demand drivers SeatGeek has ever tracked.
