Over the 21-22 winter season, the Royals added shortstop Ivan Castillo, outfielder JaCoby Jones, and relief pitcher Arodys Vizcaíno have all joined the organization this winter. Vizcaíno is an exciting addition with his seven seasons in the MLB, ending the 2019 season with the Braves. In Atlanta, he posted a 2.83 ERA in 57 1/3 innings, striking out 64 while walking 21 during the 2017 season.
The 2022 Kansas City Royals season welcomes the return of four longtime members of the organization including Rafael Belliard (special assistant to the president of baseball operations and general manager), John Wathan (special assistant, player development), Chino Cadahia (senior coordinator, player development) and Harry Spilman (special assistant, player development).
The Royals will staff eight Minor League coordinators this season: Pitching coordinator Jason Simontacchi, strength and conditioning/rehab coordinator Jarret Abell, Dominican Academy field coordinator Victor Baez, hitting coordinator Drew Saylor, catching coordinator J.C. Boscan, infield coordinator Eddie Rodriguez, Minor League medical coordinator Justin Kemp, and Minor League video coordinator Jason Nicols.
