About Ronny Chieng Tickets
Born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia in 1985, Ronny Xin Yi Chieng was raised across Singapore and Manchester, New Hampshire. While studying law and commerce at the University of Melbourne, he discovered his passion for stand-up comedy in 2009. After winning a campus comedy competition, he quickly became a fixture on the Australian circuit, achieving breakout recognition by winning Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2012 with his show The Ron Way.
Chieng’s success in Australia led to sold-out theater tours across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Canada, and the UK, as well as appearances at the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. In 2015, after impressing at the festival, he was tapped to join The Daily Show with Trevor Noah as a senior correspondent—a role that brought him international visibility. His fiery 2016 segment responding to a controversial Fox News story about Chinatown went viral and received widespread attention across major media outlets.
Beyond television, Chieng co-created and starred in the semi-autobiographical sitcom Ronny Chieng: International Student, which aired on Comedy Central in the U.S. and ABC in Australia beginning in 2017. In film, he portrayed Eddie Cheng in the blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians (2018), and later appeared in major features like Godzilla vs. Kong, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Bliss and M3GAN. Additionally, his Netflix specials—including Ronny Chieng: Asian Comedian Destroys America! (2019) and most recently Speakeasy—have fused observational humor, cultural commentary and personal storytelling, cementing his status as a distinctive voice in global comedy.
