The WNBA world got a jolt on Monday.

Angel Reese, one of the league’s biggest stars, was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream in a move that sent shockwaves across the WNBA, and instantly shook up the ticket market as well.

Angel Reese trade details: Sky deal WNBA star to Dream

Angel Reese arrived in the WNBA with a huge profile and has backed it up right away. She was selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft after a standout college career at LSU.

At LSU, Reese helped lead the Tigers to the 2023 national championship, the first in program history. LSU beat Iowa 102-85 in the title game, and Reese was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Through her first two WNBA seasons, Reese has averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, while earning All-Star recognition in both 2024 and 2025. She has already stacked up some eye-popping WNBA history on the glass. In her rookie campaign, Reese set the WNBA single-season records for rebounds per game at 13.1, total rebounds with 446, and offensive rebounds with 172.

That résumé is part of what made Monday’s news such a stunner. The Sky traded Reese to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for Atlanta’s 2027 and 2028 first-round draft picks, with Atlanta also receiving 2028 second-round swap rights.

Angel Reese trade skyrockets Dream home opener ticket demand

It did not take long for Angel Reese’s arrival in Atlanta to show up in the ticket market.

The Dream’s home opener is set for Sunday, May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces, and interest in that game has surged since news of the trade broke.

According to SeatGeek data, more tickets were purchased for the Dream’s home opener in the first two hours after the Reese trade was reported than had been purchased for the game during the entire period beforehand.

Prices moved just as quickly. The get-in price for Atlanta’s home opener was $43 yesterday. As of now, that number has jumped to $100, a massive increase in less than a day.

And the demand is starting to rival some of the league’s other marquee early-season games. For comparison, the Indiana Fever’s home opener on May 9 against the Dallas Wings currently has a get-in price of $102. That headline matchup featuring Caitlin Clark against Paige Bueckers is not far off from the $100 get-in price now attached to Reese’s home debut with the Dream.

That kind of response speaks to Reese’s star power and to the buzz now surrounding the Dream. A May 17 home opener against the defending champion Aces was already a marquee date on Atlanta’s calendar, but adding Reese instantly turned it into one of the hottest tickets on the WNBA schedule.

How to buy WNBA tickets on SeatGeek

Want to see Angel Reese in person? SeatGeek makes it easy to find tickets for any WNBA game all season long.

Start by opening the SeatGeek app or website and searching for the team, player, or matchup you want. From there, select your event and use the interactive seat map to compare available tickets across the venue. You can quickly see how prices vary by section, row, and location, then use filters to narrow the results by budget, ticket quantity, or preferred seating area.

As you browse, SeatGeek’s Deal Score can help you look beyond just the lowest price. Each listing is rated on a 1-to-10 scale based on factors like price, seat location, row, and historical data, giving fans a fast way to judge how much value a ticket offers compared with similar seats. That can be especially useful for high-demand WNBA games, where prices may move quickly and the cheapest ticket is not always the best buy.

Once you find the right seats, checkout is straightforward, with clear pricing and digital delivery directly to your SeatGeek account. That means your tickets are ready on your phone for an easy entry experience on game day.

For high-demand games like the Dream’s home opener against the Aces, it also pays to monitor listings as demand shifts. Comparing price, location, and Deal Score together can make it easier to spot a strong value before the market moves again.
