About Pro Bowl Tickets
The Pro Bowl is the annual all-star game of the National Football League (NFL). Unlike some other sports, the NFL’s All-Star game takes place at the end of the season rather than having a break midway through the year. NFL all-star games were first held in the late 1930s, with the league beginning a yearly all-star game in 1950. The concept was solidified by the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, creating a format where the best in the NFC would play the best in the AFC for bragging rights at the end of the year. In an effort to change up the somewhat stale Pro Bowl format, a system was tried from 2014 through 2016 where a pair of honorary captains (NFL Hall of Famers) would draft the players to their teams regardless of conference affiliation. This concept was scrapped after the 2016 edition of the game, with the NFL reverting to the tried and trusted Pro Bowl method of the NFC taking on the AFC. One recent change that has taken off is the weekend when the Pro Bowl is played. Up to and including the 2009 Pro Bowl, the game was played the weekend following Super Bowl Sunday. The problem with this was that NFL fans see the Super Bowl as a natural end point to the. Since 2010, the Pro Bowl has instead been held on the weekend between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, with players competing for the Vince Lombardi trophy not participating. The Pro Bowl has taken place at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii every year except for two between 1980 and 2016 (Miami in 2010 and Phoenix in 2015). Hawaii was selected as a venue as a way to create interest around the game and to stage the game in an appealing destination for the stars to strap on the pads for one more week before the season ended. In a renewed bid, a multi-year deal was signed to take the game to Orlando each year starting in 2017.
