Boys Like Girls is an American pop-rock band formed in 2005 in Boston, Massachusetts. The group—originally made up of Martin Johnson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Paul DiGiovanni (lead guitar), Bryan Donahue (bass), and John Keefe (drums)—quickly gained attention through their energetic blend of emo-pop and alternative rock. They began by uploading demos to MySpace, where their songs caught viral traction and led to a record deal with Columbia Records. Their self-titled debut album, Boys Like Girls, was released in 2006 and became an instant hit with tracks like “The Great Escape” and “Hero/Heroine,” both of which received heavy radio play and introduced the band to a national audience.
Following their breakout success, Boys Like Girls continued to build momentum with extensive touring and a loyal fan base drawn to their catchy hooks and emotional songwriting. In 2009, they released their second album, Love Drunk, which debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The record featured collaborations with major artists, most notably Taylor Swift on the duet “Two Is Better Than One,” which became one of their biggest hits.
