Matchbox Twenty is bringing six supporting artists on the road, with different acts joining the band throughout the summer. The lineup includes alternative rock favorites, singer-songwriters and bands whose music complements Matchbox Twenty’s catalog.
The All-American Rejects will open the first four shows in Birmingham, Charlotte, Nashville and Kansas City.
Known for songs such as “Gives You Hell,” “Dirty Little Secret” and “Move Along,” the pop-rock band brings its own collection of 2000s hits to the anniversary celebration. Fans attending the opening stretch can expect a particularly nostalgia-heavy pairing.
The Wallflowers, led by Jakob Dylan, will join Matchbox Twenty for the tour’s longest supporting stretch.
The run begins at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 22 and continues through Virginia Beach on July 3. Best known for “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartache,” the band shares Matchbox Twenty’s late-1990s alternative rock roots.
The Lucky will join select performances during The Wallflowers’ portion of the tour, including shows in Mountain View, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
These three concerts offer fans an expanded lineup with additional music before Matchbox Twenty takes the stage.
David Gray takes over opening duties beginning July 7 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania and continues through Aug. 1 in Milwaukee.
The British singer-songwriter is best known for songs such as “Babylon” and “This Year’s Love,” which combine heartfelt lyrics with folk-rock and alternative influences. His performances should offer a more reflective contrast to Matchbox Twenty’s radio-ready singalongs.
O.A.R. will support four shows in Brandon, Orange Beach, Charleston and Raleigh.
Known for “Shattered (Turn the Car Around)” and “Love and Memories,” the band brings a jam-influenced rock sound and a reputation for audience participation. Its feel-good style fits the outdoor amphitheater setting of these late-summer performances.
Matt Nathanson will open the tour’s final two scheduled concerts at Blossom Music Center and Acrisure Amphitheater.
The singer-songwriter behind “Come On Get Higher” and “Faster” blends acoustic pop-rock with conversational storytelling and audience interaction. His appearances will help close out the anniversary tour in Ohio and Michigan.
The supporting artists and date assignments are based on the announced tour schedule. Fans should check their individual event listing for any lineup changes.
The “30th Anniversary Tour” celebrates Matchbox Twenty’s career, from the band’s 1996 debut album Yourself or Someone Like You through its more recent material.
Frontman Rob Thomas, guitarist Kyle Cook, drummer Paul Doucette and bassist Brian Yale have built a catalog spanning alternative rock, pop-rock and radio ballads. The anniversary tour gives fans a chance to revisit the songs that helped define the band’s rise to prominence.
The outdoor venues on the schedule also set the stage for a classic summer concert experience. Fans can expect a mix of reserved seating, lawn areas and venue-specific layouts, so the experience may differ considerably from one city to the next.
