About Sarah McLachlan Tickets

Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer-songwriter known for her ethereal voice, heartfelt lyrics, and emotional ballads. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she showed a passion for music early on, studying classical guitar, voice, and piano as a child. After being discovered by Nettwerk Music Group in the mid-1980s, McLachlan signed her first recording contract at just 19 years old. Her debut album Touch (1988) introduced her to the music world, but it was her follow-up, Solace(1991), that solidified her reputation as a rising star in the alternative pop and adult contemporary scene.

Her career reached new heights with the release of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (1993) and Surfacing (1997), the latter earning her two Grammy Awards and selling millions of copies worldwide. Songs like “Building a Mystery,” “Sweet Surrender,” and the haunting ballad “Angel” became defining works of the 1990s, showcasing her ability to blend poetic songwriting with haunting melodies. In addition to her own work, McLachlan became a cultural force when she founded the Lilith Fair tour in 1997, a groundbreaking music festival that spotlighted female artists and helped pave the way for greater visibility of women in the music industry.

Beyond her chart success, McLachlan has been celebrated for her philanthropy and advocacy. She has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and earned multiple awards, including three Grammys and more than 10 Juno Awards. Her music has been used in countless films, commercials, and charity campaigns, particularly the widely recognized ASPCA advertisement featuring “Angel.” McLachlan’s career continues to inspire with its combination of artistry, activism, and authenticity, cementing her as one of Canada’s most influential and enduring musicians.

Sarah McLachlan is going on the Better Broken Tour, in support of the release of her album of the same name.

Sarah McLachlan's Better Broken Tour will continue from July 1 - August 9, 2026.

Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer-songwriter celebrated for her emotive, atmospheric vocal style and deeply personal lyrics. Rising to worldwide fame through albums such as Surfacing (1997) and Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (1993), she founded the influential Lilith Fair music festival in 1997 to spotlight female artists and challenge industry norms. Over her multi-decade career, she has won multiple Grammy and Juno Awards and sold millions of albums.

Sarah McLachlan's newest studio album is titled Better Broken, released on September 19, 2025, via Concord Records. It marks her return to original material after nearly a decade, and is her tenth studio album. The record features 11 emotionally resonant tracks, including the emotional ballads “Gravity” and “Reminds Me” (a duet with Katie Gavin of MUNA), exploring themes of healing, resilience, and family. It was produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, largely recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles.

Sarah McLachlan has an extensive catalog of beloved songs, but a handful stand out as her most popular and enduring. These are the tracks that defined her career, dominated radio in the 1990s, and remain staples of her live performances:

  • “Building a Mystery” (1997) – A Grammy-winning single that helped propel Surfacing to multi-platinum success, showcasing her blend of pop-rock with poetic depth.

  • “I Will Remember You” (1995 / 1999 live version) – First released for the Brothers McMullen soundtrack and later re-recorded for her live album Mirrorball. The live version won her a Grammy and is often used in memorial tributes and graduation ceremonies.

  • “Adia” (1997) – Another Surfacing hit, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with heartfelt lyrics about forgiveness and reconciliation.

  • “Possession” (1993) – From Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, this dark and atmospheric song was inspired by real-life fan letters and remains one of her most powerful works.

  • “Sweet Surrender” (1997) – A sultry, hypnotic track that was a radio hit and a fan favorite from Surfacing.

  • “Fallen” (2003) – From her album Afterglow, this ballad became one of her last major chart successes, showing her staying power into the 2000s.

Other fan favorites include “Hold On”, “World on Fire”, and “Stupid”, all of which highlight her ability to blend intimacy with soaring emotion.
