She earned her law degree from Boston College Law School in 1994 and worked for the Legal Aid Society in New York City, later joining CNN as a legal analyst for high-profile cases like the George Zimmerman trial. These experiences honed her public speaking skills and shaped her relatable, grounded communication style.
Her breakthrough moment occurred in 2011 during a TEDx talk titled “How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over,” where she introduced the now-famous 5 Second Rule: a quick-countdown method to override hesitation and take action. The talk went viral and led to her first bestselling book, The 5 Second Rule (2017). She followed it up with The High 5 Habit(2021) and The Let Them Theory (2024), the latter becoming a top seller in 2025, selling millions of copies globally.
