Knicks fans flocking to NBA Finals Game 5 in San Antonio for chance to witness first title in 53 years

After the Knicks pulled off the most improbable win in NBA Finals history, the question was not whether their fans would travel to San Antonio for Saturday's potential title-clinching Game 5. It was how many would make the trip, and whether Frost Bank Center would become a full takeover of blue and orange.

We have our answer: Not only did New York’s 29-point comeback victory change the complexion of the 2026 NBA Finals, but it also reshaped the ticket market for Game 5 in San Antonio.

Knicks fans are taking over NBA Finals Game 5 ticket purchases

Knicks fans have been traveling all postseason long, and they are now doing so in full force as New York gets a chance to win its first NBA title in 53 years.

Before June 10, New York and New Jersey buyers accounted for 28% of Game 5 ticket sales on SeatGeek, compared to 22% from Texas. From June 10 on, the NY/NJ share has jumped to 33%, while Texas has fallen to 14%.

That means overall, NY/NJ buyers are responsible for 31% of ticket sales for Game 5, compared to 20% from Texas. That is a major jump compared to the start of the NBA Finals in San Antonio, where NY/NJ captured 13% of the share in Game 1 (TX was 49%) and 17% for Game 2 (TX was 41%).

That surge in Knicks fan demand has coincided with a rising get-in price. Ahead of Game 4, the get-in price for Game 5 was $1,481. It has since climbed to $1,774, a 20% difference, as Knicks fans look for a chance to see their team potentially win it all on the road.

Knicks fans have traveled all postseason, but Game 5 still stands out

The Game 5 demand in San Antonio is the latest example of a Knicks fan base that has passionately followed their beloved team all postseason long.

The only Knicks road games this postseason with a higher NY/NJ buyer share than the 31% for Game 5 in San Antonio came in Philadelphia, where the commute from New York and New Jersey is far more manageable. During the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Sixers, NY/NJ buyers made up 47% of tickets sold on SeatGeek for Game 3 in Philadelphia and 58% for Game 4.

Cleveland also saw a meaningful Knicks presence during the Eastern Conference Finals. Across New York’s road games against the Cavaliers, 13% of tickets sold on SeatGeek for Game 3 went to NY/NJ buyers. That share rose to 20% for Game 4, with the Knicks up 3-0 and the chance to secure their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

That makes the Game 5 number in San Antonio stand out. Even with a much longer trip than Philadelphia or Cleveland, NY/NJ buyers represent 31% of overall ticket sales on SeatGeek for Game 5, a strong sign of just how important the moment is for Knicks fans to potentially be in person to witness the franchise’s first title in 53 years.
